How can we build digital nomad communities that local people are glad to welcome?地域に愛されるデジタルノマドコミュニティを、どうつくるか。

As location-independent work grows, cities around the world are welcoming digital nomads. Yet in some places, that welcome has turned into friction as housing costs rise and local ways of life begin to change. When people arrive, does local life grow richer—or does the burden remain with the community? This has become a shared question across the world.場所を選ばず働く人が増え、多くの都市がデジタルノマドを迎える一方で、住宅価格の上昇や生活圏の変化など、歓迎が摩擦へ転じた地域もあります。人が訪れることで、地域の暮らしは豊かになるのか。それとも、負担だけが残るのか。この問いは、いまや世界に共通するものです。

Japan has spent years exploring ways for people to remain connected to a place beyond tourism or permanent relocation. We now want to extend that idea across borders: a “global relationship population” made up of people who continue to care for and contribute to a place. By bringing Fukuoka’s experience together with lessons from around the world—including doubts, mistakes and unfinished work—we will ask how these relationships can be welcomed and built together with local communities.日本は長年、地方創生に向き合い、移住や定住だけではない「関係人口」という、人と地域の新しい関わり方を模索してきました。観光でも移住でもなく、国境を越えてある地域と関わり続ける「グローバル関係人口」を、地域はどう迎え、ともに何をつくれるのか。福岡での実践と世界各地の経験を持ち寄り、成功だけでなく、迷いや失敗も共有しながら考えます。

Every host community has a way of life it wants to protect. Every visitor arrives with reasons for seeking a place and hopes for how they might take part. This is not about declaring one side right. It is about bringing both sets of questions into the same room and designing the relationship together. World Nomad Conference is a new kind of international gathering: a crossroads for the questions of those who welcome and those who arrive.迎える地域には守りたい暮らしがあり、訪れる人には、その土地と関わりたい理由があります。どちらか一方の正しさを語るのではなく、互いの問いを持ち寄り、これからの関係を一緒に設計する。World Nomad Conferenceは、「受け入れる側と、訪れる側の、問いの交差点」をつくる、これまでにないテーマの国際会議です。
